Everybody Must Be Happy
The story follows our hero Zelia Paxmore, an on-the-brink-fame artist as she is about to have her breakthrough gallery show. It takes place over three days in real time as we learn that Zelia’s artistry is aided by a peculiar ability of hers: she can transform the very appearance of her reality, reskin it if you will. So she can make her surroundings look like a cartoon, like the gilded age, like a Renaissance painting and she can also immersively “dive into” paintings, enter into the story of what is happening in a painting.
Simultaneously however Zelia is also losing grip with reality, just as her big debut is happening. Our question is, can she hold onto her reality, accept her destiny to become one of the truly great artists, or will she falter and lose her grasp on more than just reality. The story clocks in at 330 pages.
